Universe RPG is going open source

For those of you who don't follow both groups, Jim Goltz has announced
that he is starting up an open source repository and project for SPI's
science-fiction RPG 'Universe' using SourceForge to archive and
distribute it.

He seems to be using a number of programming tools in order to track
versioning and produce his documents. It's appealing in some ways, to
think about doing the same with DragonQuest, but it would require
learning a number of unfamiliar tools, and I'm not sure that any sort
of OpenDQ project would benefit from the overhead this would require.

Just to update everyone, I am still working on OpenDQ, but it has been
somewhat back-burnered of late in favor of some other projects, both
IRL and other non-DQ game projects.

Also, if anyone is interested, Ian Taylor has put together a
compilation of all Ares magazines (including the games, boards and
counters) in PDF format as a 2-CD collection. I've only had a chance
to browse a couple of the issues so far, but it's a nice resource to have.
